Emily is a Londoner, being born in Hackney, growing up in Islington, studying architecture at the Bartlett & Royal College of Art and working across London in Clerkenwell, Westminster and now Brockley. Living and working in the city she has worked on the archetypal buildings that, we at Gruff now refurbish, extend and create anew. Her previous work experience ranges from firms in their start up phase such as Buckley Gray (Buckley Gray Yeoman) & Turner Castle Associates (Carl Turner Architects), to high end residential projects at Paul Archer Design and on large schemes at HOK International.
With a lifetime immersed in London, travelling to other countries, to see other architecture and cultures has always been an interest and necessity, influencing knowledge and design skills. She has an inherited interest in place making from her family who encompass artists, civil engineers, historians and scientists, and when not at the office Emily is interested in craft, painting and interiors.
Gruff is formed of a dynamic team of architects, designers and creatives. A close-knit practice, with a wide range of experience and skills, our collective understanding of the built environment creates unique and thoughtful proposals.
